We took Ethan to story time with Santa at the Library. He saw all the other kids sit on his lap. There was no way he was going to, but he really wanted the candy canes Santa was giving out.

His compromise was to "stand" by him.

Candy cane achieved.

Wonderfully edited clips from films of 2010.

AWESOME!

Apparently, LOST likes to reappear when I am at church. ;) I got called back to hang out with Ethan at church in his classroom. Because he can't play and sing and listen to the lesson without me apparently. And, lo and behold, one of the little girls in his classroom is Kate Austin. Ok I know it's spelled wrong, but seriously....

What a bizarre concept, but starring James Bond - Daniel Craig and Han Solo - Harrison Ford, plus directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), produced by Ron Howard, Brain Grazer, and Steven Spielberg. The screenplay was written by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Fringe) & Damon Lindelof (LOST!!!, Star Trek). Those are some pretty large names. How can you pass it up? Plus, the trailer looks amazing. I can even say I have read the graphic novel the movie is based on, well, I read it two years ago. I don't remember much about the story or at least that it was very dense. I do remember all the aliens spoke there own language which you couldn't read/understand and I thought that was annoying. Hope the movie has subtitles. :)

Sitting at the table after dinner with full bellies last night, the following...

Tom: Belch, "Excuse me."

Lauren: Belch, "Excuse me."

Ethan: Fake Belch, "'scuse me."

All together: Laughter peals.

I won't lie, I cried.

Pooh's getting a feature film next year. Old school animation which still has a place I think (Pooh in CGI, NO!) but a new story. I like the song they used for the trailer. It made me very nostalgic. However, I feel bad for Pooh. He has the rotten luck (or just insane Disney executives) because he's opening against Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.

I was so excited about these two recent deals I made, I had to share.

The candy I purchased at CVS to give out for Halloween. Total Spent: $1.85

I used a coupon from the paper, a coupon from CVS, plus some extra bucks I had earned from CVS.

Got these 7 Hasbro games from Toys' R Us today: Cootie, Ants in the Pants, Chutes & Ladders, "Toy Story" Trouble, Memory, Candyland, and Hi-Ho Cherry-O. (Plus two Ethan size toothbrushes). Total Spent: $10.41 (However, kind of all Free pending my mail in rebate).

All 7 games were on sale. They ran a get a $10 gift card off $35 purchase of Hasbro games, but apparently the ad was wrong and that ended a couple days ago. The manager was understanding and gave me $10 off on the spot. I had a coupon for the toothbrushes. I had earned a $20 gift card for purchasing diapers a few weeks before. These got me to the $10.41, but I should get a rebate between $12 -$15 at some point for the all seven games from Hasbro .

I don't think I will keep them all for Ethan. I might give a couple away or donate them.

Awesome Deals make me smile! :)

This trailer looks gorgeous. Who knew there was such a thing as the 2010 Astronomy Photographer of the Year?

Science Officer Spock.

Spock and random red shirt.

Spock, pursuant to Starfleet command 619, you are hereby relieved of your command due to being emotionally compromised.

Spock on Halloween night, complete with eyebrows.

Trick or treat.

I saw this film last week. It was pretty good. Not life shattering, but it definitely made some valid points. As a kind of very shallow review, it championed Charter Schools and made the Teacher's Unions out as the bad guys.

I suppose the thing that caught me was their argument that school system hasn't really changed since the 50's or so when we were at the top as a nation, but that's not the case anymore. Back then, you could get a well paying job with just a high school education. That is really not true anymore, so maybe we should be preparing EVERY student for college. Not pigeon-holing them on some "track" designated by test scores. (Of course I was on the "gifted" track in my high school so what do I know, or maybe I do know.... Who knows?).

I hope I get to see this in theaters...

I really like this trailer/mish-mash of clips of LOST. Good Job.

Pursuant to my last post, here is a barrage of photos, much to the chagrin of my husband.

Out for an evening stroll.

Looking like "The Flash."

Oopsies.

Checking out the moon, his favorite obsession, currently.

Dancing on the track....

Man... They look so alike.

Vegging out in front of the TV.

I LOVE this shirt! Thank you, GAP.

Ethan's number this week at church was 423.

EMBED-'The Walking Dead' Trailer is FINALLY Here!! - Watch more free videos

AMC is pretty brave. I'll be tuning in....

Cool Shot, Huh...

And no matter how much inspirational crap you try to tell yourself, it doesn't make one bit of difference. Blah blah blah. Dump.........

So I guess NASA is having a contest to pick wake-up call music for the last two space shuttle missions. They have sent wake up calls (unless there were two shifts working) since the Gemini missions. I've been reading through a document that lists them all. Lots of fight songs, military songs, etc. My favorites so far have been: Robin Williams announcing "Good Morning Discovery" in classic "Good Morning Vietnam" style, in 1981 they were twice awoken by Pigs in Space muppet routines, and finally the following from 1991:

"Space - the final frontier.
This is the voyage of the Space Shuttle Atlantis -
Its ten-day mission:
To explore new methods of remote sensing and observation of the planet Earth -
To seek out new data on radiation in space, and a new understanding of
the effects of microgravity on the human body -
To boldly go where two hundred and fifty-five men and women have gone before.
Hello - Fred, Tom, Story, Jim, Tom, and especially Mario -
This is Patrick Stewart, choosing not to outrank you as Captain Jean-Luc Picard,
saying that we are confident of a productive and successful mission.
Make it so."
All this to the theme music of "Star Trek - the Next Generation" Capcom Marsha Ivins contacted actor Patrick Stewart to request the special wakeup call for Mario Runco, a big "Star Trek" fan. - taken from http://history.nasa.gov/wakeup%20calls.pdf
Awesome!

A few weeks ago we got to see a ton of C-47s and DC-13s (WWII planes, military and civilian versions, respectively) at a fly-in at the county airport. They were meeting up here for the last time all together and then flying to Osh Kosh. Pretty neat. John Travolta came. Oooo. ;)

Ethan's even sporting his aviator glasses.

We went into the "oldest" C-47. After WWII it served in the Israeli Air Force.

I saw these and immediately thought they were filled with pasta. I've watched too much Vicar.

"I want four oxen and all the bullets $1600 will buy." "Don't you want any food or spare parts?" KILLS ME. Too funny.

Garrgh... I really want this. $200 for the blurays...eesh. But if you think about it that's $33 per season which isn't really that bad. My birthday's next week anyone want to pitch in. :)

We had the best sweet corn yesterday. So yummy and full of kernels, no empty spots. The first batch we got a week ago was full of bugs and not that great. (Of course that batch was free and we paid for this batch).

I cut some off for Ethan, but he INSISTED on eating it like Mama and Dada.

He did pretty good. I was impressed. So cute!
